8th Grade Visual Arts

The clay has arrived and the students are putting it to good use.  8th graders are proudly participating in the age-old Appalachian tradition of face jug production. After studying the  work of Lanier Meaders and his enormous contribution to this craft, students are eager to create their own version of this popular artform.

7th Grade Visual Arts

7th grade is also creating with clay, but they're not making pots, they're making sculpture.  After a brief overview of the history of sculpture and sculpting techniques, these young artists are developing their modeling skills with a truly unique project.  Their challenge--to create a new species of animal and make it out of clay.  Wow!  Can't wait to see what they come up with!
