The annual South Habersham Middle School Veterans Day Program and Reception was held on Thursday, November 10, 2016.  Before the program began, veterans visited each class to share their experiences with students.  Students asked questions to learn more about the veterans’ time in service.  During the program, veterans from all branches of the military were recognized.  The Colors were presented by Habersham Central High School’s JROTC followed by “Star Spangled Banner” performed by the South Habersham Band and Chorus.  Eighth grade students Patrick Tedder, Lauren Nelson, Cassie Carter, and Argyle Patterson each spoke about the importance of our veterans. Student Writing Contest Winners Jaidyn Ivie (6th), Victoria Young (7th), and Madeline Garrison (8th) each read their Veterans Day essays and poems.  The Chorus then performed “America the Beautiful” followed by the Band playing “March of the Armed Force.”  The program ended with a powerful Veterans Day video with participation by the entire student body.  Following the program, a brunch reception was hosted in the media center.
