Subjects Taught
Language Arts, Social Studies

I received my teaching degree from the University of North Georgia in Dahlonega MANY years ago.  At that time, it was called North Georgia College.  My life took a different path after graduation:  I was an accountant for seven years and a stay-at-home mom for eight years after that.  When my family and I moved back to Georgia, the time was right for me to teach.  I completed the necessary requirements to bring my teaching certificate current and was hired at South Habersham Middle School in 2002.

My entire teaching career has been spent at SHMS.  I taught seventh grade for four years but have been in eighth grade since that time.  This is my thirteenth year teaching.  I most often teach language arts, but I also teach social studies periodically, which for eighth grade is Georgia History.  For this school year, 2017-2018, I am lucky to teach all Georgia History classes.

My husband Mark and I have been married for almost twenty-four years.  He is retired from the U.S. Army, so we were lucky enough to live in Germany for three years.  My younger son was born there.  We have two children, Alex and Matt, ages 23 and 21.  Alex is an officer in the U.S. Army, and Matt is a senior studying chemistry at the University of North Georgia in Dahlonega.

I am not originally from Habersham County, but I did attend junior high (South Habersham!!) and high school here.
